Free tier
Has a usable free tier with meaningful limits
What is free tier?
Free tier means the product offers a usage tier at zero cost. This does not mean unlimited — free tiers typically have token quotas, rate limits, or capability restrictions. On sourc.dev, we track the Pro tier price (price_full_access_usd) because free tiers are not representative of the product's full capabilities. A free tier that limits you to GPT-3.5 while the Pro tier gives you GPT-4o is not the same product.
Why it matters
The free tier tells you whether you can evaluate the product before committing budget. But it does not tell you what the product can actually do at full capability. sourc.dev tracks the Pro tier price (price_full_access_usd) because that is the tier where all integrations and capabilities are available. The free tier is for evaluation. The Pro tier is the product.

How sourc.dev tracks this
sourc.dev verifies free tier manually from official provider documentation, API responses, and published specifications. Every data point includes a source URL and verification date. When a value changes, the old value is preserved in the history table and the new value is recorded alongside it. Nothing is overwritten — the full timeline is always available.

This attribute is verified periodically against provider documentation. When sourc.dev detects a change, the new value is recorded alongside the old one with full provenance.
Understanding free tier helps developers make informed decisions when choosing between models and providers. Rather than relying on marketing claims, sourc.dev provides verified, dated, source-linked data so the data decides.
